COMPETITION FOR THE MUSEUM AND EDUCATIONAL CENTRE OF THE POLYTECHNIC MUSEUM AND MOSCOW STATE UNIVERSITY

International competition of Architectural Concepts for the Museum and Educational Centre of the Polytechnic Museum and Moscow State Lomonosov University is part of the project for Polytechnic Museum modernization started in 2010. Strelka Institute for Media, Architecture and Design is the competition consultant.

The Jury consists of government representatives, members of Polytechnic Museum and MSU management, both Russian and foreign experts in architecture and urbanism – Sergey Kuznetsov (Chief Architect of Moscow), Andrey Bokov (President of the Russia’s Union of Architects), Julia Shakhnovskaya (Deputy General Director of the Polytechnic Museum), Andrey Busygin (Deputy Minister of Culture of Russian Federation), Grigory Revzin (Architecture reviewer and publicist), Robert Firmhofer (Poland, Director of the Copernicus Science Centre, President of the Ecsite European Network of science centers and museums), Jan Kleihues (Germany, Architect, Founder of Kleihues+Kleihues) et al.

The registration of the applications was finished on the 19th of November. There were around 50 international consortiums and Russian companies having applied for the competition. According to the voting the following participants were shortlisted: PROJECT MEGANOM (Russia) and JOHN MCASLAN & PARTNERS (UK), MECANOO International B.V. (The Netherlands) and TPO REZERV (Russia), Farshid Moussavi Architecture (UK) and Architectural bureau ROZHDESTVENKA (Russia), MASSIMILIANO FUKSAS Architetto (Italy) and SPEECH (Russia), 3XN A/S (Denmark) and ASADOV Architectural Studio (Russia), LEESER ARCHITECTURE (USA) and ABD Architects (Russia).

By the beginning of February selected Participants should prepare architectural concepts for the Museum and Educational Centre. After the technical expertise the results will be presented to the Jury. The final decision will be taken in the end of March 2013.
